When a plant or refinery is expanding, a Land Surveyor must establish new control points for the proposed development.  Most plants/refineries utilize a local coordinate and monument system that surveyors originate from in order to layout the new improvements.  Oftentimes, an As-built Survey is needed to determine the existing structures and terrain that could impede the design.
